A considered approach
Layering ambient, task & accent light
Sketch the activities before selecting fittings. In a bedroom, concealed light may provide the background, a reading light the task and a narrow beam the artwork accent. Put layers on useful circuits so staff or guests can adjust them independently. More layers do not mean more brightness: the aim is controlled contrast and a comfortable room at several times of day.
